Even though I usually have black coffee, I love to occasionally treat myself to one of these flavored caffeinated beverages.
I decided to gather all my Pumpkin Spice coffee recipes in one post, so that you can easily choose the drink that suits your taste best.
The pumpkin flavor is often associated with the fall season. So these homemade beverages are ideal for the autumn period.
Nevertheless, I like having hot and iced Pumpkin lattes and Starbucks-inspired Frappuccinos all year round.
In this post, you will also find regular, vegan, and low-carb (keto) versions of the pumpkin coffee drinks that you love.
So let’s dive in.
Making Pumpkin-Flavored Coffee at Home – Key Ingredients
Before I start with the first one, I think it’s essential to point out the staple ingredients.
- Pumpkin Spice. I add a teaspoon to each and every drink that I’ve listed here.
I often use it as a topping too – I sprinkle my drink at the end to make it look cooler.
Anyway, it may be useful for you to know how to make Pumpkin Spice at home.
It’s basically a blend of two parts ground cinnamon to one part ground nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice.
This pumpkin spice by Simply Organic is also perfect to use for my recipes.
Even if you don’t use pumpkin puree for your latte or macchiato, you should definitely add the spice, as it carries the most essential flavor. - Pumpkin Puree.
I usually use homemade pumpkin puree, but whenever I don’t have any left, I get a canned organic one.
If you’re making one of the keto drinks, keep in mind that a tablespoon of pumpkin puree has 1 net carb.
If you’re going for a low-carb treat, you can skip this recipe component. As long as your beverage contains pumpkin spice, you won’t be disappointed. - Vanilla Syrup or Vanilla Extract. The vanilla flavor goes quite well with all the lattes and frappes that I’ve listed here.
I usually use Monin’s vanilla syrup. I like its flavor and it’s vegan, so it’s also suitable for those of you who are on a plant-based diet.
If you want a drink that contains fewer calories, you can use vanilla extract, such as this one by Simply Organic.
Using a vanilla-flavored sugar-free coffee syrup is also an option. - Coffee and Milk – of course, you can’t make any of the drinks that I’ve listed, if you don’t have these two ingredients.
Some of the Pumpkin-flavored coffees I’ve made with sweetened condensed milk, cream, or half-and-half, but you can always substitute them with regular or plant-based milk.
You will find out more information concerning the possible adjustments that you can make in each drink’s recipe.
Equipment
When it comes to equipment, there are a few devices that will come in handy when making the listed Pumpkin Spice drinks:
- Coffee maker.
The best Pumpkin spice latte is always made with espresso.
In my homemade latte beverages, I’d normally add a double espresso shot.
The second best option is using a Moka pot.
Moka pot brew is the most concentrated alternative to espresso.
You can check out my post on which coffee has the most caffeine to compare how different brewing methods affect your cup’s strength.
Anyway, if you don’t have a Moka pot, feel free to use the coffee brewing device you have at hand to make your drink.
Some people even dissolve a teaspoon of instant coffee in 1 to 2 fl. oz. (30 to 60 milliliters) of hot water for their homemade latte beverages.
It’s also worth noting that I usually make Copycat Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Frappuccinos with instant coffee, so you won’t be missing out if you go for this type of iced and blended coffee beverage. - Milk Frother (Electric Drink Mixer). This device is very helpful for those who want to add texture to the milk and mix all the flavored latte ingredients well.
I use it in many of my DIY coffee drinks, as it also makes it easy to make the beverage look cooler.
There are battery-operated drink mixers such as this one by Zulay:
